CONFERENCES

At this year’s Future Professoriate Program (FPP) conference held on May 15-16 at the White Eagle Conference Center, Hamilton, New York where I made a presentation titled “Teaching Beyond the Confines of the Traditional Syllabus: Ensuring Syllabi Reflect Ongoing Conversations and Methodologies.

In the presentation, I discussed trends I saw in the ways syllabi were being constructed across disciplines, the benefits of incorporating new technologies, diversifying the selected materials, (paying particular attention to neurodivergence in classroom), and creating room in the syllabus for conversations that take up current real-world issues. I also covered topics such as the citational politics of the syllabi, the most effective organization of information, and the purchase of moving the syllabus towards a digitalized space.
